After saying goodbye to the lovely Marguerite Matthews over the summer when she went to work for the NIH, we are thrilled to welcome a new Research Learning Community coordinator at our research intensive partner, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Eleonora Juarez, Ph.D., is from Monterrey, NL, Mexico and grew up in Brownsville, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas. Doctor Juarez recently completed her Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Genetics at OHSU, where she investigated the importance of chromatin remodeling for repair of DNA damage induced by the environmental carcinogen, formaldehyde. She has been extensively involved and is passionate about initiatives that support students, and strives to increase diversity and inclusion in the STEM workforce.
