NRMN Health Research Talks, the series of health disparities research videos produced for the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN), continues with the releases of the fourth and fifth videos in the series.
Mona N. Fouad, M.D., M.P.H., leads the NRMN effort to produce the eight-video series at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), in collaboration with NRMN's Research Resources and Outreach Core (RROC) at Morehouse School of Medicine and the Professional Development Core (PDC).
The fourth video in the series, “What is Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and Why Do It?” is led by Monica L. Baskin, Ph.D., Professor of Medicine, UAB Division of Preventive Medicine, and was released on Oct. 1.
The fifth video, led by Sara J. Knight, Ph.D., is entitled, "What are Psychometrics and Survey Research?" and was released on Oct. 15. Knight is also a Professor of Medicine at the UAB Division of Preventive Medicine.
The eight-video series will provide professional development information for junior faculty planning research careers as independent investigators in fields related to community-based health and health disparities. Faculty from UAB and Tuskegee University will discuss various health and health disparities research topics in a lively interview format.
As a partnership of the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center (MHRC), the NRMN Professional Development Core (PDC) and the NRMN Research Resources and Outreach Core (RROC), this collaborative effort serves as a follow-up to the Southeast/Deep South Grantwriting Coaching Group kick-off event at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta that took place in May 2016.
The series of professional development videos targets junior faculty and post-doctoral fellow participants in all of the NRMN Grantwriting Coaching Groups from the national training efforts. The videos will be made available to watch on the NRMN website.
