The National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) Grant, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), is a nationwide consortium to enhance the training and career development of individuals from diverse backgrounds, communities, and cultures who are pursuing biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social science research careers (collectively termed biomedical research careers), through enhanced networking and mentorship experiences. The primary goal of NRMN is to enhance the participation in the biomedical workforce of individuals from groups identified as nationally underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences research enterprise. The NRMN grant comprises five partnering cores: The Administrative Core (AC) at Boston College, the Mentor Training Core (MTC) at the University of Wisconsin‑Madison, the Mentorship and Networking Core (MNC) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, the Professional Development Core (PDC) at the University of Minnesota, and the Research Resources and Outreach Core (RROC) at Morehouse School of Medicine.

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Research, the Executive Director for the AC will serve as the Boston College Principal Investigator for the NRMN project.

Duties to include:

• Prioritization of NRMN goals and objectives in coordination with NIH and all NRMN Cores. Includes providing direction and oversight on the prioritization of resources to ensure effective implementation of goals, work plans, quality management plans, and deliverables while staying consistent with funder policies and procedures. 
• Collaborate with NRMN Core PIs, stakeholders, and staff to adopt and implement best practices and processes that have been effectively used by multidisciplinary biomedical research and cooperative networks. Includes contributing to the creation of new concepts, training and outreach ideas, and projects aligned with the mission of the NRMN.
• Work with the Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) colleges and universities and the biomedical professional societies to facilitate a synergistic and strategic partnership with the goal of securing access to their constituents with the purpose of increasing membership and awareness of NRMN on a national scale. 
• Oversees internal/external communication plan with all NRMN Cores and partners. Includes fostering and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, collaborating with partners, serving on various committees, and overseeing communications ranging from web to national presentations.
• Review NRMN organizational and governance structures and processes in concert with the Core PIs, managing effective resource allocation and fiscal responsibilities.
• Responsible for managing all local project activity including day-to-day project management. Oversees execution of AC programs within the estimated timeline(s) including: Key Personnel Meetings, data warehouse management, regional events, AC fiscal oversight, and IRB protocols.
• Facilitate evaluation of NRMN programs, coordination of data collection and reporting, and collaboration with the Coordination and Evaluation Center (CEC).  These roles will be carried out in partnership with the Director of Evaluation and the PI overseeing evaluation.
• Develop sustainable National Mentoring Consortium model that includes and coordinates activity from the various diversity programs across the country. Some examples include the NIH Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) U-STAR awards and the NSF Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) awards.
• Participate and/or present in internal & external meetings with NRMN stakeholders including various BC staff, BC Office for Sponsored Programs, BC Office for Institution Diversity, Core PIs, NIH Leadership, Partnering Institutions, & Scientific Societies.
• Supervise Administrative Core staff. Provide general oversight of human resource functions, support the development of individual personnel goals and prepare annual reviews.

Minimum requirements:

• 10+ years of working with complex projects as well as the understanding of and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders and departments within a university or non-profit.
• Expertise and background in cultivating relationships with scientific societies and stakeholders.
• Subject-matter expertise and knowledge of mentoring, under-served populations, and biomedical field.

Preferred qualifications:

• PhD preferred. MD or other health professional degree welcomed.
• Training, research and policy experience preferred.
