Congratulations to recent UTEP BUILD graduate Cecilia Hinojosa who presented her research at Capitol Hill and met with Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke during the 20th annual Posters on the Hill showcase April 19-20 sponsored by the national Council on Undergraduate Research. Only 60 student research projects were selected nationwide out of hundreds of applicants.
Cecilia conducted research under the mentoring of Laura O’Dell, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, for the past three years while participating in undergraduate research programs established by the UTEP Campus Office of Undergraduate Research Initiatives (COURI), including the federally funded programs SMART-MIND and BUILDing SCHOLARS. These federally funded programs offer unparalleled opportunities for El Paso students to jumpstart their careers by conducting research under the mentoring of nationally recognized faculty. She is the very first BUILDing SCHOLARS alumna.
Cecilia will pursue her doctoral studies at Tufts University this fall.
