The report, Barriers and Opportunities for Two- and Four-Year STEM Degrees: Systemic Change to Support Students' Diverse Pathways (2016), from the Board on Science Education; Policy and Global Affairs Division, National Academies Press was recently released. This national consensus panel report was chaired by Shirley Malcom, AAAS and included CEC member Sylvia Hurtado, UCLA. The report relies on national data, including data from the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA, to describe students' pathways and contemporary research on retention in STEM pathways. Commissioned papers include one led by Kevin Eagan (CEC) and another paper by Mica Estrada, (UC San Francisco) evaluation lead for San Francisco State BUILD. National trends, evidence from the research on support programs, and current patterns for underrepresented groups are detailed. This is a great resource for citations.
